Description
Chrome Continental-sized postcard (approx. 4x6) with three views ofSt. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, Ireland.
Views include the nave and choir; an outside view from the park;
and a bust of Jonathan Swift, writer and Dean of the Cathedral in the mid 1700s.
Front caption reads, "St. Patrick's Cathedral".
Back caption reads, "ST. PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL, DUBLIN: Originally founded in
1190 the cathedral was extensively rebuilt towards the end of the 14th century, after the
destructive fire. Following the wars of the 17th century the building fell into a ruinous
state until about 1860 when a complete restoration was carried out through the generosity
of Sir Benjamin Guinness, a member of the famous brewery family. The little park beside
the cathedral was also provided by this family. Jonathan Swift was dean of St. Patrick's
from 1713 to 1745 and is buried in the cathedral."
