    Description

Vintage Continental-sized (approx. 4x6) chrome postcard with a view of
    Adare Manor
in Adare, County Limerick, Ireland, once home of the Dunraven family and now a luxury hotel
    and golf course.
Front caption reads, "Adare Manor, Co. Limerick, Ireland."
    Back caption reads,
"ADARE MANOR, home of the Earls of Dunraven and Mount Earl,
was designed by the Second Earl who commenced the building in 1832.
It is reputed to have taken 30 years to complete and the East Side is here seen
with the River Maigue in the foreground. On the left of the picture is seen an
exceptionally large Cedar of Lebanon. The house and grounds are open to
the public from May to September on weekdays, (except Saturdays) and on
    Sunday afternoons."
Card No. 2/503 published by John Hinde Ltd., Cabinteely.
Split back; used, posted to PA, USA, in 1980.
    Inked note reads,
    9/4/80
    Chintene chérie, We are
on a tight schedule, traveling many miles each day in a comfortable,
spacious autobus with Jean, an excellent guide, and John, our skilled
chauffeur. Never before have we visited such magnificent castles, and at
Adare Manor we were received by the charming owner, friend of one of the
members of our group (a most congenial group!).
Our first evening we went to a medieval banquet, which was quite an
experience. The McShain home in Limerick, wonderfully restored, is a
'dream,' and then we were served wine and cheese by our delightful hosts.
Little time for writing or reading. Much love, Helen and Wallace."
Good condition with use and some corner wear. See photos.
Ships securely in a protective plastic holder.
