Description
Vintage Continental-sized (approx. 4x6) chrome postcard with a view of the Church of SS Peter and Pauland River Shannon bridge at Athlone in County Westmeath.
A blue tractor is among the vehicles on the span.

Back caption reads,
"ATHLONE, CO. WESTMEATH: On the river Shannon where it marks the boundary between
Leinster and Connaught, Athlone is the 'capital' of the midlands. This is the principal
marketing centre for the surrounding country and is an important harbour on Ireland's
inland navigation system. The Church of SS Peter and Paul is an impressive structure in
the Roman Renaissance style with twin spires and a graceful dome. Lough Ree, 1/2 miles
north of Athlone, is an excellent angling centre."
