Description
Vintage chrome postcard with a photo of Blarney Castle, County Cork, Ireland.The Blarney Stone is just above the top window, beneath the crennellated battlement.
Back caption reads,
"AS 6294 BLARNEY CASTLE, CO. CORK.
The Castle, amidst charming scenery 6 miles northwest of Cork, is widely celebrated for its
Blarney Stone. To kiss the Stone is every visitor's ambition and once fulfilled is reputed to
give one 'the gift of eloquence' or 'blarney'."
Published by Avon Series, Dublin, and printed in the USA.
Split back, used, postmarked 1972 (town illegible) but marked Sligo; mailed to USA.
Inked note reads,
"Dear M -- Went to mass in a little town, Letterkenny - a big church - 75 years old & completely paid for
(by people who had migrated to America) before the first mass was said there. Then we drove for
miles behind a funeral - the pall bearers walk. Traffic was all tied up. See you this week."
Good condition with light wrinkinling and edge wear from normal postage use. See photos.
