Back caption reads,
"BLARNEY CASTLE, BLARNEY, CO. CORK, IRELAND.
This village, set amid picturesque scenery to the north-west of Cork, is renowned for its castle and
the 'magic' Blarney Stone, with its power of conferring the gift of oratory on those who kiss it. The 15th
century castle, with walls 18 feet thick, withstood sieges for over 200 years before being partly
destroyed in the late 17th century. The only part remaining is the massive square keep, some 85
feet high, with a battlemented parapet complete with openings through which stones or liquids
could be dropped on assailants."
