Vintage Contintental-sized (approx. 4x6) postcard with a view of Gougane Barra and
St. Finbarr's island and O'Mahony's chapel, on a fair summer's day in West Cork, Ireland.

Front caption reads, "Gougane Barra, West Cork, Ireland."
Back caption reads, "GOUGANE BARRA: This lake, the source of the River Lee, is set amid
magnificent mountain scenery with brooding cliffs rising above the dark waters. In the lake is a tiny island
connected to the mainland by an artificial causeway. This island was the site of the hermitage of
St. Finbarr, patron saint of Cork. Nothing now remains of this early building, but there is an extensive
building of a later date containing a square court with cells. This building was erected by the Rev. Denis
O'Mahony, about 1770, who resided here until his death."
